Anything But Old (ABO)
Trinity’s Senior Ministry
Check out the Savannah trip slide show at the bottom of the page.
Some nine years ago, we began a ministry to our seniors here at Trinity, those 55 and over. We asked them what they wanted to be called, and someone shouted, “Anything but old!” That is how we came up with the name.
Through these past years we have enjoyed meetings, a simple lunch of soup, dessert and “other stuff”. We have enjoyed a Bible Study, but most of all we have enjoyed the fellowship of getting together to find some joy in life.
We have enjoyed day trips to dinner theaters and sight seeing. We have enjoyed one long trip each year. We have been to Vermont (3 times), Branson, Williamsburg (2 times), Niagara Falls, and Hyde Park, New York.
This group also took on two ministries, because Pastor Bill said they just couldn’t get together just to have fun, they needed to reach out to others. The first is the coordination of funeral meals. The members of ABO solicit donations for the dinners, and then serve the meals. This is one of the most important ministries of our congregation, meeting the needs of those who grieve the loss of a loved one. And we have received nothing but very positive comments about these meals.
Second, the ABO group has made and served the Easter Breakfast here at Trinity. The Egg Strata, and Cream dried beef on toast, have become a tradition of Easter morning. And ABO members are here before the sun rises to get things ready!
We have well over fifty members involved in ABO. Members from other churches have joined us for our meetings and trips. All are welcome! So, join us, and bring some joy back into your life!
