“Teach more effectively, keep more kids, and equip more parents for ministry at home.”
Confirmation is a two year program for the youth in 7th and 8th grade. In these two years kids have the chance to go through the Bible, learn more about Lutheran Church, its traditions, liturgy and history.
Our Confirmation program is called Fundocy (fun doing confirmation) We meet twice a month for two hours 4:00 p.m - 6:00 pm. After Fundocy we have dinner prepared for kids and then a youth event.
As you can see our Confirmation program isn’t only about learning the facts. It’s a program that enables our youth to grow closer to one another but especially closer to God. It inspires our 7th and 8th graders to live out their faith within our congregation and broader community as well as it enables them to start a journey of maturing in faith.
Currently we’re using Faith Inkubators Head to the Heart (H2H) Confirmation Curriculum. Head to the Heart (H2H) is a relational, parent-involved, small group ministry system that challenges churches and parents to expect more out of traditional confirmation and junior high youth ministry.
H2H provides engaging, brain-based teaching materials including object lessons, art, music, gameshows, skits, PowerPoint® presentations, beautiful home journals, and more, and wraps it all in a small-group system that surrounds kids with a whole lot of love and care. The program is led by pastors and Christian education director with the help of pilots (parents and volunteers).
Who are the Pilots?
Pilots help our youth form relationships with Jesus Christ, within our congregation and beyond to the entire church. Pilots also serve as mentors and cheerleaders for our youth as they prepare to assume a more mature role within the body of Christ.
As you can see, our goal is not just to cover the confirmation material, but to create close Christ centered relationships between kids, pastors and parents.
