January Sunday School Schedule:
Map of the Sunday School rooms:
Our Sunday Schools start in the fall (September 13th, 2009) with a Fall Kick Off and continue throughout the year until the summer. There isn’t Sunday School during the summer months.
We’re averaging about 210 children and youth. This does not count any of the Adult Sunday School Classes presently being held.
We are planning some major changes to Trinity’s Sunday School program for the fall. We will be using a new Bible Song curriculum, that will work on a two week rotational model. Students will rotate between crafts, music, puppets/drama, creating a giant mural, recreation/service. Teachers will be escorts and helpers, getting students from station to station, and helping at each station.
The curriculum will be divided into monthly themes, and we will be looking for adults and teenagers to help with the escorting of groups and leading stations. We will be asking people to give one, two, maybe three months a year to help with our new Sunday School. The rest of the time you could go to “Trinity U”, you can read more about that in this newsletter.
This is how it works. Each week we will begin in the sanctuary. The first week we will introduce the theme. There will be a drama or puppet show, some singing, a key Bible verse and prayer. Then the children will go downstairs to visit 2 Sunday School Stations. The following week, they will meet for singing, then go downstairs and visit three Sunday School Stations. The back hallway Sunday School rooms will be transformed into special station rooms. Instruments for all of the children to make music will be purchased. A special puppet theater will be built. A drama center with painted wall backdrops and costumes will be put in place. It will be fun, educational, interactive, and something for all ages.
During the year we will be collecting pages for a year end memory book to be given to parents and their child as a review of the year. There will be prayers, discussion questions, and home devotionals available each week for parents to take home and follow-up with their children, to talk about what they are learning and to delve deeper as a family. There will also be monthly schedules and a special Sunday School newsletter, so everyone will know what is going on, and can get involved.
Speaking of helpers, and schedules…We will need a lot of people to make our Sunday School a transforming place for our children. We want you to live out your passion, helping with arts and crafts, helping with dramas, puppets, games, or music, or just helping our children get from one station to the next, and lending a helping hand to the adults in charge. We need you! If everyone would give 1-3 months we would have to turn people away, but we wouldn’t!!! Please help us share Christ’s love in this new adventure. Call Gwen Weiser or sign-up after Church on the Schedule which should be up later in July.
We are also planning to share some of our children’s plays and singing through a special “offering that does not fit in the plate.” Each week we will share a different video of our children in Sunday School as part of our worship service, so parents, and the entire congregation, will get to see what goes on downstairs in Sunday School! Remember this is part of our Jehoiada Chest collection for Rally Day. We will be forming a tech crew to make this happen every week, so if you have computer skills or like to video tape, we need you!
Many people are working very hard behind the scenes to make this all come together for the fall. We want to thank all those who have given time already to begin the new curriculum, as well as those who will agree to help serve in this new program this fall. We believe it will bring a new burst of faith to our children as we share our excitement about God and Jesus in bold new ways.
Come and join us in wonderful process of learning and maturing in faith. |
